TEST Your Device for Compatibility with Adobe Connect!
Adobe Connect allows participants to enter a live webinar using two methods: browser-only and browser "add-in".
Browser-only viewing method: When you join a webinar using the browser-only method, the live webinar presentation will open directly in the browser window and you will still see the browser's menu at the top of the window.
Browser "add-in" viewing method: When you join a webinar using Adobe Connect's browser "add-in", the live webinar presentation will open in a new separate Adobe Connect window and you will only see the Adobe Connect menu at the top of the window.
The Adobe Connect "add-in" does not need to be installed on your computer to view the live webinar. However, if the Adobe Connect "add-in" is already installed on your computer, you'll need to make sure that it is at least version 11.9.980.387 or later. Adobe Connect "add-in" versions prior to 11.9.980.387 expire on September 8, 2017 and will not load the live webinar.
Regardless of the viewing method, you should run the Adobe Connect Test Tool to make sure your computer is configured to view a live webinar hosted using Adobe Connect.
Run the Adobe Connect Test Tool: The Test Tool goes through four steps to check your computer's compatibility to view a live Adobe Connect webinar. Once you run the test, the test results should have green checks for the first three steps.
If the first three steps have a green check and Step 4 has a red 'x', your computer is setup to view the live webinar using browser-only mode. No further configuration or setup is required to view the live webinar.
If Step 4 also has a green check, you'll need to verify that the "add-in" version installed on your computer is at least 11.9.980.387 or later.
- Verify the version of the "add-in" installed on your computer: Click the 'details' button below the Test Tool results and scroll to view the "add-in" version. You must have "add-in" version 11.9.980.387 or later to successfully join the live webinar. If your computer has a version prior to 11.9.980.387, you'll need to follow the instructions below to remove the "add-in" so that you can 1) view the live webinar using browser-only mode -or- 2) remove the "add-in" and install the latest version of the "add-in" so that you can view the live webinar using the browser "add-in".
- Users that can update their computer settings should follow these instructions to remove and re-install the latest version of the "add-in" on your Windows or Mac computer. Note, to enable browser-only viewing of live webinars, you can simply delete the "add-in" without installing the latest version.
- Uninstall the "add-in" on Windows: To uninstall the "add-in" on your Windows computer, use Control Panel / Programs, select 'Adobe Connect Add-in', then click Uninstall. Once the "add-in" has been removed, you can re-run the Adobe Connect Test Tool and optionally accept the prompt to install the latest "add-in" version.
- Uninstall the "add-in" on Mac: To delete the "add-in" on a Mac, open Finder, click Cmd+shift+G and input ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/www.macromedia.com/bin/ and click Go. Move the entire adobeconnectaddin folder to trash. Note: Sometimes the Library is hidden. If you cannot find your Library folder, follow this article to make sure that your user Library folder is visible. Once the "add-in" has been removed, you can re-run the Adobe Connect Test Tool and optionally accept the prompt to install the latest "add-in" version.
- Users that are unable to update their computer settings should contact their local IT support for assistance with removing previous versions of the "add-in" and optionally installing version 11.9.980.387.
