Blackboard Collaborate Webinar Access Instructions
NOTE: For live webinars hosted using Blackboard Collaborate after August 2014, you are now able to participate in the live webinar event or view its on-demand recording using the following equipment: Windows and Mac computers and mobile devices such as the iPad, iPhone, Android Tablet or Android smart phone.
On-demand webinars with an original live webinar event date prior to August 2014 can only be viewed using a Windows or Mac computer. For instructions on accessing on-demand Collaborate hosted webinars with a live date prior to August 2014, click here.
To find out how to setup your computer/device to view Collaborate hosted webinars, see the 'First Time... Attendees' section below for more info.
Once your computer or smart device is setup with Blackboard Collaborate, you can participate in a live or on-demand Collaborate hosted webinar using the following instructions:
- Register for the webinar. Find the live or on-demand webinar on the Webinar Portal and click the 'join' or 'view' button to get started. You can join a live webinar event up to 15 minutes before the webinar's live start date/time. You will be prompted to register for the webinar and if applicable, take a short pre-survey before being automatically directed to the NCSU Collaborate hosting site where you will be able to join the webinar session.
- Login as a Guest using your FULL name - On the Collaborate "Join Session" page, enter your FULL name in the 'Log In as a Guest' text box at the bottom of the page. This will log you into the webinar session being hosted on the NCSU Collaborate website. (no password is needed)
- Click the "Join Session Now" button to join the session. The webinar will then download on your computer (This may take a couple minutes to complete). If prompted to open or save the webinar meeting.collab file that was downloaded, select open using the Blackboard Collaborate Launcher. Once you are in the session, please follow the information on audio setup. If the session does not start after a few minutes, see the 'First Time... Attendees' section below for information on how to configure and verify the Blackboard Collaborate setup on your device.
Note: If you browser did not automatically open the downloaded meeting.collab file, you may have to locate the downloaded file in your browser's download folder and open it manually.
If there are any presentation handouts from the speaker, the webinar software will prompt you to download and save them to your computer. Please make sure that you select to download and save these file(s).

First Time Blackboard Collaborate Webinar Attendees!
Before connecting to Blackboard Collaborate for the first time on your computer/smart device, make sure to complete the configuration setup indicated below for your specific computer/smart device. You MUST do this at least 72 hours ahead of time. Please use the same location and equipment that you will use when you attend the actual Blackboard Collaborate session(s). If you switch computers/devices, you must perform the device configuration setup on the new equipment before participating in a webinar on that device.
For Windows and Mac users:
- Go to http://go.ncsu.edu/configuration.
- Step 1 - Make sure Step 1 indicates that your operating system is supported -and- that you have the Collaborate Launcher installed. If you do not have the Collaborate Launcher installed, you must follow the instructions on how to install the launcher.
- Step 2 - Enter the Configuration Room as outlined in Step 2. Here you will log into the NCSU Configuration Room test webinar session as a guest to learn how to test your audio setup, set your connection speed, and set up your profile.
For Mobile Device (iPad, iPhone, Android Table, Android Smart Phone) users:
- Download and install the Blackboard Collaborate app to your mobile device. You can get this free app from your respective device OS manufacture's app store (Apple Store or Google Play). You device is now setup for Blackboard Collaborate.
If you have any problems configuring Blackboard Collaborate version 12, call 877-382-2293 (select Blackboard Collaborate web conferencing). Blackboard Collaborate support is available 24 hours day, 7 days a week.
