The US Forest Service in partnership with the US Biochar Initiative and the Southern Regional Extension Forestry will be presenting its latest Biochar Webinar titled: "Biochar in Urban Vegetated Applications". This live webinar will be held April 27, 2023 from 11 to 12 pm Eastern time.
This month's speaker is Dr. Ann Mari Fransson. Dr. Fransson got her PhD and received the title Associate professor (Docent) in plant ecology at Lund University. After 16 years of research in Lund she moved to Sveriges lantbruks universitet Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Alnarp and was a Senior lecturer since 2010. Currently she is a Senior lecturer at the Department of Forestry and Wood Technology Faculty of Technology.
Dr. Fransson got her background is in soil-plant interactions and functional diversity in plant P uptake mechanisms. Since 2000, she has studied the effects of soil P on plant performance and how plants may alter the soil environment to achieve P from the soil and continued her work with organic acids in relation to P availability at The University of Bangor. The following years she spent at the Ecological Institution, Lund University in a project looking at biodiversity of grasslands and the gene expression in roots in response to P addition.
Since 2010 She has worked with urban plant ecology at SLU in Alnarp and have been involved in a number of Vinnova financed projects that are oriented towards cooperation with municipalities and different kinds of companies. This work has included biochar in various urban applications.
Currently, she is a Senior lecturer at the Department of Forestry and Wood Technology Faculty of Technology of Linnaeus University in Sweden. Find out more about Dr. Fransson here.
