The US Forest Service in partnership with the US Biochar Initiative and the Southern Regional Extension Forestry will be presenting its latest Biochar Webinar titled: "Biochar's Role in Climate Mitigation". This live webinar will be held August 31, 2023 from 11 to 12 pm Eastern time.

This month's speaker is Harry Groot. Harry an Associate of Dovetail Partners, Inc; Minneapolis, MN. He’s a certified as both a Professional Engineer and an Energy Manager and has worked on international projects as Virginia’s Governor-appointed Representative to the Consortium for Manufacturing Competitiveness, and provided technology transfer assistance between higher Ed institutions, Federal Labs, and regional businesses while Regional Director for Va’s Center for Innovative Technology. His most recent projects have been focused on biochar; the biochar industry and its technology and market development/potential.

Harry participates and manages projects in rural business development, Cooperatives, and biochar. Conducts literature reviews, participates in field work and analysis of data, write reports and develop other outreach tools to disseminate lessons learned. His experience includes both State and Federal public-sectors, environmental non-governmental organizations, and the private sector. He manages his own forest products company, which includes the small-scale production of biochar. He continues to actively participate in the family’s farm, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.
