Dr. Katie McKeever (Forest Pathologist – USFS) will cover the biology and management of some non-needle pine diseases including pitch canker, littleleaf disease, and fusiform rust.
USDA Forest Service - Region 8, bugwood.org
Pine stands are important to the southern US from both an economic and ecological standpoint. Maintaining pine health is therefore a priority, but pines can face several challenges including diseases that impact their stems and root systems like fusiform rust (Cronartium quercuum f.sp. fusiforme), pitch canker (Fusarium circinatum), and littleleaf disease (Phytophthora cinnamomi). All of these diseases can significantly damage pines and in some cases cause tree mortality. But what can be done to manage these diseases and others like them? In this webinar, Dr. Katie McKeever will cover the biology and management of some common non-needle pine diseases found across the south.
