The use of wood plays a critical role in markets and in advancing climate change solutions. Private families or individuals primarily own the South’s vast forest resources. These privately-owned forests provide clean air and water and wildlife habitat. If forest landowners cannot make a living owning and managing their property, the risk for development is high. There needs to be healthy, resilient, and sustainably-focused markets for traditional forest products.
In this workshop, you will learn:
- Why mass timber is a sustainable material
- Which types of wood buildings are right for your needs
- How mass timber can be used for new and retrofitted public buildings
- What architects and contractors need to know about designing and building with mass timber
