This webinar will introduce carbon offset credits and markets with an emphasis on forest carbon offset projects in the United States. The presentation will define carbon offsets and forest management practices that qualify for offset projects. The presentation then will walk-through the steps to developing a forest carbon project whose offset credits are traded in the voluntary and compliance markets. The webinar will also cover emerging programs and current trends in forest carbon offset programs.

ChizmarDr. Stephanie Chizmar is a postdoctoral researcher at N.C. State University, where she earned an M.S. in natural resources and a Ph.D. in forest economics. Her research focuses on incentive policies and public programs and their impacts on private land ownership. She has published various Extension publications on forest carbon offset markets, forest certification schemes and voluntary conservation programs.

Rajan ParajuliDr. Rajan Parajuli is an assistant professor and extension specialist in forest economics with Extension Forestry at N.C. State University. Dr. Parajuli specializes in forest product marketing, forest management, economic impact analysis, and carbon and bioenergy markets. He has been with the NCSU Extension Forestry for the last five years, working on various forest economics and management related Extension and outreach programs.
