Dr. John Nielsen-Gammon discusses how:

  1. The Western Gulf region is unusually susceptible to decadal and multidecadal natural variability as well as climate change.
  2. Over the next several decades, precipitation will be dominated by natural variability while temperature will be dominated by climate change.
  3. We are in the middle of a temporary phase of heightened drought susceptibility.
