HOW TO REGISTER / JOIN


This session will explore multiple sources of conflict and identify tools to prevent or management conflict that arises from these sources.

Joy Hazell

UF/IFAS Fisheries & Aquatic Sciences

Joy Hazell is a UF/IFAS Extension faculty member in the Department of Forest, Fisheries and Geomatics Sciences. Joy is the State Specialized Agent in Facilitation and Conflict Management and Director of the Florida Natural Resources Leadership Institute. She trains natural resource and environmental professionals from across Florida’s public, private, and nonprofit sectors through an intensive, eight-month professional development program focusing on stakeholder engagement, and skill development focused on collaborative decision-making, conflict management, communication, negotiation, and facilitation. Joy also plans, develops, facilitates, and evaluates comprehensive needs-based collaborative decision-making processes around natural resources in the state of Florida and beyond. She holds an undergraduate degree in Marine and Freshwater Biology from the University of New Hampshire and a graduate degree in Marine Affairs and Policy from the University of Miami. Joy started her career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Central African Republic teaching high school biology.
