This webinar will address the current state of knowledge on gypsy moth biology and management, with a particular emphasis on the insect's potential impact in southern forest systems.

The gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar) - an exotic insect pest native to Asia - is responsible for millions of acres of defoliation in the northeastern and Great Lakes Regions of North America since arriving in Massachusetts in the late 1860s.  This webinar will review the biology, ecology, current distribution, and spread of the gypsy moth.  Management options and programs will be covered, with particular emphasis on forests in the southeastern U.S.
