The US Forest Service in partnership with the US Biochar Initiative and the Southern Regional Extension Forestry will be presenting its next monthly Biochar Webinar titled: "Hedging Your Biochar Bet: Pairing Biochar Properties with Soil Deficiencies to Improve Agronomic Outcomes" on February 10, 2022 from 11am to 12pm Easter time.

Our webinar Speaker this month is Dr Kristin Trippe. Dr Trippe is a research microbiologist with the Agricultural Research Service, an agency within the US Department of Agriculture in Corvallis, Oregon. Her laboratory focuses on the effects of biochar on soil health and microbial community dynamics and developed the Pacific Northwest Biochar Atlas. Her laboratory has also examined the role of biochar in rangeland restoration, mine reclamation, forest-to-farm biochar systems, soil water dynamics, and increasing agricultural yields, as well as a broad spectrum of studies focused on natural products and microbial biochemistry. Dr. Trippe has served on the USBI Board of Directors since 2018. She is also the Chair of the Soil Biology and Biochemistry Division of the Soil Science Society of America.
