Dr. Nick Fuhrman (“Ranger Nick”)
Associate Dean for Outreach & Meigs Professor of Environmental Educatio
University of Georgia Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources

Nick Fuhrman is the Associate Dean for Outreach and Meigs Professor of Environmental Education in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia. Nick’s passion is teaching—whether the audience is students, extension professionals, or natural resource managers. He hosts a national television series, “Ranger Nick,” and radio broadcasts on NPR. He delivered a TED Talk, “The One Thing All Great Teachers Do” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwTpfVQgkU0), where he shares his passion for teaching and working with students. He is perhaps best known for using live animals when teaching. Nick earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Forestry from Virginia Tech and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Education and Communication, with an emphasis in Environmental Education, from the University of Florida. He and his wife have two children who already seem to love teaching with animals as much as their Dad.
