Jennifer Fawcett received her master's degree in Forest Resources from Clemson University and her Ph.D. in Agricultural Education and Human Sciences from N.C. State University. She has worked in wildland fire education, outreach and operations for 15 years and has worked in Extension Forestry at N.C. State University since 2013.

Hannah Thompson-Welch is a wildfire mitigation specialist with the N.C. Forest Service who serves all 100 counties in the state. She works with communities, landowners and emergency responders to create defensible space, manage vegetation and improve infrastructure resilience. She assesses wildfire risk and develops recommendations for individuals and communities to implement strategies to reduce the potential for destructive wildfire impacts.
