  1. Hurricanes are important in forestry. They often end droughts, contribute significant rainfall, and winds can take down stands of trees.
  2. The effects of climate change on hurricanes is complex and not well-understood at this time.
  3. A unique storm surge database called SURGEDAT is the world's most comprehensive database of surge events.
