The US Forest Service in partnership with the US Biochar Initiative and the Southern Regional Extension Forestry will be presenting the October 2024 Monthly Biochar Webinar titled: "Research Advance on Specialized Tree and Biochar to Remediate the Stabilize Mining Waste" on Oct. 10, 2024.
This month's speaker is Dr. Zalesny
Dr. Zalesny holds a Bachelor of Sciences on natural resources and environmental studies from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and a Ph.D. from Iowa State University on Forest Biology. Dr. Zalesny studies genetic and physiological mechanisms regulating biomass production of short rotation woody crops grown for phytotechnologies, bioenergy and fiber. Dr. Zalesny is advancing short rotation woody crop production systems for pollution remediation and renewable energy. He develops phytoremediation and other phytotechnologies for ecosystem recovery, remediation, and restoration along the urban to rural continuum.
