Air potato (Dioscorea bulbifera), a common exotic pest plant in Florida. Karen Brown, University of Florida, Bugwood.org
Risk assessments and analyses are decision support tools that identify potential invasive species and diagnose the invasion status of species already in the landscape. Dr. Deah Lieurance (UF) conducts research that aims to improve our ability to prevent biological invasions in the southeastern United States. Prevention is critical when considering the tremendous negative impacts invasive species have on natural areas, biodiversity, and economy. Dr. Lieurance's research strives to identify the species that pose the greatest threat before they arrive.
