Participate to learn about Natural Resources Conservation Service conservation planning principles to improve soil health and the impact soil health has on other resource concerns, such as water quality.
This webinar covers the basics of soil health and provides a definition of healthy soil that can be used as part of the conservation planning process. Examples from the Grand Lake Saint Marys Watershed in northwest Ohio are used to show how poor soil health can impact water quality and other natural resources. The “slake” test and rainfall simulator demonstrations are featured to provide a dramatic visualization of the impact that management practices have on soil. Soil health pros and cons for several Natural Resources Conservation Service conservation practices are discussed.
This webinar is sponsored by the USDA NRCS East National Technology Support Center.
