Join The Longleaf Alliance on this webinar to explore how carbon funding can support landowners and land managers to establish new longleaf forests and meet land management and conservation goals. This session will focus on reforestation and afforestation efforts, which offer one of the largest opportunities to sequester carbon while also building climate resilience for communities and ecosystems.
We will explore the following questions with speakers Victoria Lockhart, Director, Reforestation, The Climate Trust; David Shoch, Director of Forestry and Technical Services, Terra Carbon; and Arjun Durr, Director of Product Discovery, American Forest Foundation.
• How can carbon financing facilitate the reforestation of longleaf forests impacted by severe natural disturbances like hurricanes and wildfire?
• What are the challenges and opportunities of carbon financing specific to longleaf pine forests managed for a variety of benefits and land management objectives?
• What makes longleaf pine forests unique when considering carbon projects?
At the end of the webinar, Lucas Clay, Climate-Smart Forestry Extension Associate with Clemson University will share information about the Climate-Smart Grown in SC program and all the speakers will answer questions from the audience.
