Communities, large and small, make decisions about how to best dispose of waste wood materials as a routine part of their urban forestry programs. Recently, both public interest in sustainable energy, and economic opportunities, have opened a market for urban wood. This resource may have value and benefits that are only now being thoughtfully considered.

This webinar will help urban foresters, local leaders, and professional planners determine if and how and urban wood program is an option for their a community or municipality.
Harry Watt is a Wood Products Specialist working for North Carolina State University Wood Products Extension who works in the forest and wood products industry from sawmills through value added products like cabinets, furniture and millwork. He focuses on helping clients grow sales and profitability through supporting grants. Harry is working with the North Carolina Urban Forestry Council to promote the full value utilization of materials removed from urban forests. Harry has worked in many woodworking sectors including furniture, hardwood plywood, caskets and dimension products.
