Wildland Fires & Deficit Farm Soil Organic Matter (OM): An argument for OM Redistribution & Monetizing Slash

Meet the speaker:

Jim Archuleta is the USDA FS-R6 Regional Wood Innovations Coordinator. He has been with the Forest Service 25 years working promoting forest soil health in a variety of ways. Providing analysis in support of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Finding various organic amendment applications for pumice soils to improve vegetation production. Completing two equipment patents; for equipment to eliminate detrimental soil impacts from past forest management. He manages an average of 10 million dollars of federal reimbursable grants in any given year. Over his career he has also been honored with several recognitions for soils work with the he recently received the Chief's Awards (FS), Under Secretary's Award (USDA) and the 70th Secretary’s Honor (USDA) for work in Wood Innovations.
