You can’t succeed in an interview without the skills to compete. The National Woodland Owners Association has partnered with Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) to increase awareness of forest/woodland opportunities to underserved landowners / farmers. This first webinar of our series will be for students, alumni, university extension, academic researchers, and landowners to learn about modern career development.

This webinar will delve into how to get a job in forestry with technical recruiters from regional organizations speaking on what they are looking for in their hires, courses students should take, experience students need to gain and information on internship opportunities. Next we will focus on jobs in the field with presenters painting a picture of what is in a day’s activity like reaching out to landowners, how to approach people, conflict resolution, importance of a service mentality. Speakers will be asked, what prepared you for, and what surprised you, on the job? How do you work through challenges/issues and problem solve? Agenda:

  • NWOA introduction, ABAC introduction (5 minutes)
  • How to Get a Job in Forestry
  • Workforce development (30 minutes)
  • Land management (10 minutes)
  • Q&A (10 minutes)
